Makita was born in the Czech Republic, but she really comes from New Zealand where she lived from the age of 4. She studied fine art at university and received her bachelor’s degree in 2002. Whilst studying she worked as an art therapist with children with ADHD. After her studies she moved back to the Czech Republic, where she began teaching English, but in 2004 she moved to London where she remained for the next 17 years focusing on her art. She returned to Czech in 2021 and since then has taught children, teenagers and adults. As well as teaching English, she also teaches art in English. She remains a working artist.
